Granta Chorale

Granta Chorale, formed by Janet Wheeler in Autumn 2007, is a small chamber choir of 24 – 30 singers from the Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Herts and Essex areas. They perform a wide variety of music from the renaissance to the present day, much of it a cappella, and their programmes often juxtapose music in contrasting styles. The choir enjoy exploring the acoustics of the historic churches in which they sing, sometimes using less obvious performing spaces to unusual effect.

Granta Chorale were delighted to give the first performance of Janet Wheeler's Time Becomes a Song in 2009, and this is now a particular favourite in their repertoire.

Forthcoming concerts include 'Christmas at the Fitzwilliam' in December 2011 and the first performance of Janet Wheeler's Magnificat in May 2012.

St Mary's Church in Saffron Walden is an excellent concert venue and the choir look forward to sharing in MazeMusic with great pleasure.
